Malbec
Malbec is originally from the Loire Valley and Cahors in France. It is increasingly celebrated as a major grape variety in Argentina. It is a spicy grape variety, rich in tannins and needs more sun and heat to mature than most other grape varieties.
Synonyms
Malbec is known in much of France as Côt, and, in Cahors also as Auxerrois. Outside France it also known as Malbek.
Health Benefits
Excellent health benefits when made from low-yielding vines with long fermentation and maceration times (second only to the Tannet grape). Be careful however of mass-produced Malbec wines which tend to be lacking in both quality and health benefits.
