Tempranillo

Tempranillo is native to Spain where it is widely grown. Tempranillo is often referred to as Spain’s “noble grape” and is the main variety in Rioja wines.

Tempranillo is a thick-skinned black grape used to make full-bodied red wines. It grows best in cooler regions as it does not tolerate hot or dry weather well. Its aromas and flavours often combine elements of berryish fruit, herbaceousness and an earthy minerality. Rarely a stand-alone varietal, Tempranillo is often blended with Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon.
