Wine and Your Health
Much research has been done over recent years into the positive effects of red wine on health and life expectancy. It is in our view best summarized in Roger Corder’s The Wine Diet, who explains the “French Paradox” - the fact that the French have lower rates of heart disease, cancer and a higher life expectancy despite eating a lot of saturated fat and smoking too much, above all in the South West region of France. This is explained by the Mediterranean-style diet, within which red wines rich in a particular type of polyphenol play a major role. The Wine Diet is available here
